Our precious wife, Mom and Nan entered her eternal home on March 29, 2022. Peggy Busby was born on January 27, 1941, in Athens, Texas, to Jessie Durwood and Ethel Irene Musick Rogers. Her family eventually moved to Dallas where she met a little boy who bribed her with bike rides in exchange for helping with his homework. This past November they celebrated 65 years of marriage. Billy and Peggy have set an example for their family of what true love and marriage should be.
In the early years of marriage, Peggy birthed and lost three babies and miscarried two before eventually having their only daughter, Sherri. As a result, the bond she shared with her daughter was truly unique. Always best friends, they spent most days together. Peggy adored her grandchildren and prayed God’s blessings over them each day. Peggy was actively involved throughout her grandsons’ lives attending every gymnastics meet, school program, baseball game, football game, most vacations and was there for every special moment of their lives. Peggy’s motherly instinct carried over to everyone she loved, her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. She was the one everyone turned to when they needed unconditional love, care and acceptance. Many consider her like a mother.
Peggy and Billy owned and operated a delivery business the majority of their lives. Later in life Peggy took on a part-time job she absolutely loved, driving a special-education school bus. She was an avid and very talented bowler and a huge Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan. She could be heard a block away cheering during a game. She was an amazing cook and made dinner for her family every Sunday after church.
Peggy was given a second chance at life 12 years ago when she received a double-lung transplant. We will forever be grateful to her donor and his family for this gift she was given and the memories she was able to make. She was selfless and incredibly strong and fought hard for her family. She was the greatest example of God’s love and gave God all the glory for the blessings in her life. We know she is in heaven with her Lord and Savior, and this brings us great joy and peace. This is not goodbye but until we see her again. Until then, we will hold her close in our hearts, striving to love each other the way she loved us.
Peggy was preceded in death by her babies, Eva Darlene, Billy Dale and Donna Lynn; her parents Jessie and Ethel Rogers; her sister Evelyn Bankston and brother Jessie Rogers. She is survived by her husband Billy Busby; daughter Sherri and son-in-law Vince Garza; grandson Ryan and granddaughter-in-law Kirsten Garza; grandson Brandon and granddaughter-in-law Colette Garza; grandson Kyle Garza; great-grandchildren Olivia, Aspen and Noah; sister Lynn Roberts; brother Gilbert Rogers and many nieces and nephews.
