Pedro Velasco Obedoza (Tatay), born March 2, 1919 went to be with the Lord March 18, 2007. Tatay was a man of few words. A timid and quiet person, a generous son, a kind father, a loving husband, a fun grandfather, and a thoughtful and responsible brother. He owned and worked in his barber shop for over 20 years.His clients include most of the high officials and politicians in and around the neighboring towns.He had between 6 to 9 barbers whom he treated fairly and with respect and they remained his friends through the years and speak highly of him to this day. He was always a farmer at heart.He loves his carabaos, his rice farm and his mango orchard.In fact, that was how he spent his time in the United States..... an avid gardener. He was loved and respected by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. Tatay is survived by his wife Natividad Obedoza. 7 Daughters: Pelly Obedoza, Esper Ligunas and husband Mario, Paz Brehm and husband Horst, Vicky Rudio and husband Teddy, Zita Maerina and husband Froilan, Pauline Brown and husband Kelly, Chenelyn Bryan and husband Travis. 10 Grandchildren: Marla Grace Ligunas; Elke Brehm; Eldenpette, Crisjan Dave, Vida Mae,Vea Krizzle and John Paul Rudio, Marvie Perlynne Maerina; Erik Oliver and Nathan Anthony Brown; sister: Concepcion Molano. Requiem Mass will be held at the Divine Mercy of Our Lord Catholic Church, 1585 East Cartwright Road, Mesquite, Texas 75181 at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 24, 2007. Family visitation will be on Friday, March 23, 2007 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Recitation of Holy Rosary will be held @ 7:00PM Friday at New Hope Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rowlett, Texas. Reception and lunch will be at the Manilla Ranch after the service.
