Paul Maston "Bam" Lawyer, age 59, of Forney, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2023.
Bam was born on October 12, 1964, in Chickasaw, Oklahoma, to Paul and Maudie Lawyer, and, as his mother said from the start, what a beautiful baby he was. He spent his childhood in Irving, Texas, and graduated high school from Christ Temple Academy.
At the age of 18, he went to work for Martin News Agency and continued doing so for 30 years. His career path then led him to MISA Imports where he worked up until this year and was instrumental in setting up its warehouse and distribution methods.
The absolute highlight of Bam's life was the birth of his son, Maston. He and Maston were inseparable for decades. Bam loved to watch Maston play sports - from football to basketball to wrestling, and then later, Bam loved hearing Maston play his music. He was incredibly proud of his son.
In 2006, Bam met the love of his life, Joan. They were both slinging hot dogs in the concession stand at Rockwall Christian Academy, where their sons attended and played football. They told everyone that they were just "friends" and just "hanging out," but that soon grew into the truest, most profound love. Bam and Joan were married on June 6, 2009, at the Buffalo Creek Country Club. They spent their years together traveling and enjoyed relaxing wherever there was abeach. They also loved to entertain and cook for people. He considered cooking to be part of his ministry.
Bam was a worshipper and he cherished being in the house of God. He was faithful to his church and loved ministers more than anything. Bishop Baker said it best, "Bam knew how to have fun with ministers while still respecting their office." Bam will always be remembered for his great love of people and his great faith. Everyone who knew Bam thought they were his best friend. He made everyone feel loved and special. Bam's faith was unsurpassed. He would not allow anyone to speak negatively. He spoke life over every situation. You could not ask for a better husband, father, son, brother, or friend. Bam loved unconditionally.
Bam was preceded in death by his father, Paul Joseph Lawyer. He is survived by his wife, Joan; sons, Maston Lawyer, John Duff and wife, Taylor, and grandson, John Edward Duff; his mother, Maudie Lawyer; his brother, Kevin Lawyer; and his sister, Shelly Jennings and husband, Rusti; and countless friends.
We will miss Bam every day. He will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
