Patsy Jean Smith

Patsy Jean Smith, 84, of Garland TX,  passed away on March 16, 2022. Patsy was born on September 20, 1937, to James and Pat Southard in Dallas TX.  She was preceded in death by her parents James and Pat Southard, her husband Lee Roy Smith, sister Jackie Ross, son Richard Smith, granddaughter and husband Leah and Jim Eason, and her great grandson Luke Eason.

In high school, Patsy met Lee Roy Smith and were married in 1954 until his death in 1975. They had four children Vickie, Richard, Ginger, and Tammi. After reuniting at their high school reunion, Patsy married Richard Wells on April 17, 1998. 

Patsy loved having fun, spending time with family, shopping, and traveling to casinos. She worked hard building a successful business, Atlasta Answering Service. Patsy will be remembered by her very energetic and loving personality. She loved her family deeply, cherished her husband Richard, and will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and employees.

She is survived by her husband Richard Wells, daughter Vickie (Darrell) Compton, daughter Ginger Smith, and daughter Tammi (Jeff) Schmitt, daughter-in-law Vickie Smith, grandchildren Brad (Becca) Compton, Lindsay Smith, Kyle Smith, Alexis (Dustin) DeNeui, Taylor (Dan) Conley, and Jessi Schmitt, great grandchildren Jace Eason Compton, Austin and Cooper Compton, Charlotte Cook, Eli and Tori DeNeui, brothers James (Paulette) Southard, Bill (Janice) Southard, and Walter (Linda) Southard.

Our family is grateful to know that Patsy is finally at peace. The memorial service will be held at New Hope Funeral Home, 500 East Hwy. 80 in Sunnyvale, TX on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. There will be time to visit with the family between 9:00-10:00 a.m.
