Patrick Armand Hebert Jr. was born November 24, 1940 and passed away March 5, 2011 at the age of 70. Pat was preceded in death by his father Patrick Armand Hebert Sr. and his daughter Amanda Hebert Thomason. Pat is survived by his devoted wife Linda Phipps Hebert, his loving mother Maxine Davis Hebert, his four children Cynthia Hebert Gelfan, Dallas Hebert, Austin Hebert, and Tyler-Jean Hebert and grandchildren Samantha and Trevor Gelfan and Houston Hebert. Pat also has a loving extended family including his cousins and his wifes family. Pat was born in Baton Rouge, LA and moved with his family to Dallas, TX in 1947. He attended St. Thomas Aquinas School and Jesuit High School. In 1960 he married his first wife Lynn Verinder. From this marriage Pat had two daughters, Cindy and Amanda. In 1979 Pat married his current wife Linda. Pat and Linda were married for 31 years and have three children, Dallas, Austin, and Tyler. Pats first place of employment was Krogers when he started working at the age of 15. He continued to work for Krogers for 38 years and became a store manager. Pat loved managing stores and his favorite part of the job was talking with the customers. After retiring Pat became interested in money management and really loved tax season and working with his friends at H&R Block. Pat enjoyed chatting with his customers every year, passing out chocolates, and genuinely liked helping people. Pat was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mesquite. Over the years he served the church as a deacon, Santa Claus, and taught Sunday school. Most recently he participated in Sunday school, greeting the congregation, writing special notes to Dr. Wilbanks, and supplying donuts to his friends and family every Sunday. Pat was a loving husband, son, father, and friend. His friendly, easy-going, and calming spirit will be missed along with his great sense of humor. He loved to play golf and he cherished the time he spent on the course with his golfing buddies. He loved to play card games. His favorites included spider solitaire, penny poker, and canasta. He was a fierce competitor and loved to win. His favorite TV shows included sports, history, and wrestling. He enjoyed the outdoors, and he found peace and relaxation by tending his yard, feeding his fish in the pond, collecting firewood, and creating great bonfires. Pats life was one of honor, love, and commitment and above everything else, Pat loved God and his family. There is a hole in our world without Pat, but with the examples and lessons he has left for us, we will be able to live on and grow and honor his memory. Pat would want us to remember that there are two dates on our tombstones, but the only thing that matters is the dash between them. Pat, your guiding hand on our shoulders will remain with us forever. Service will be 2:00PM Thursday March 10, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church,1028 S. Belt Line Rd., Mesquite, TX. 75149. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 4:00PM - 8:00PM.
