Patricia Ann Cunningham was born on January 6th, 1931, in Arlington, Texas, and passed away in Rockwall, Texas on September 15th, 2018.Pat attended school in Forney and Dallas, graduating from Pleasant Grove High School in 1948. On a blind date, Pat met Richard Cunningham; and after a three week romance, they were married on November 14, 1948. In 1963, Richard, Pat and their two sons moved to Forney to begin a business.The Forney Supermarket was their livelihood for the next 23 years. The opportunity to be of service was of the utmost importance to Pat.Pat’s service included the American Legion Auxiliary, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the first female President of the Kaufman County Senior Citizens Board, and the first female City Council member for the City of Forney (from 1982-1984).Not to mention her countless visits to the sick and elderly in hospitals and nursing homes; where her goal was to bring joy and laughter into their life. But her greatest accomplishment was her family.She loved being “Oma” (German for grandmother); but through the innocent mispronunciation by a grandchild, it became Omar. And, for many years,most everyone has known Pat as Omar. Pat’s life has touched numerous hearts, and she will be missed by many; especially her family.Her survivors include her sons – Richard & Cindy Cunningham; and Steve & Dianne Cunningham.Seven Grandchildren – Alan Cunningham, Diana Cunningham, Christopher (Krystal) Cunningham, Josh (Angela) Brincks, Nick (Tiffany) Brincks, Kyle (Alecia) Chapman, and Jessica (Billy) Alonzo.Nine Great Grandchildren – Hunter, Zoe, Aziah, Zayden, Luciana, Scarlett, Mirabella, Isabella & Cooper.Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, in 2004; her parents Levi & Ruby Dean, brothers Corkey Dean and Bobby Dean, and sister Ruth Dean Compton.
