Olen Truman Davis passed away peacefully on April 27, 2024. He was 82 years old. He spent his last days surrounded by his family.
Olen was bom on February 23, 1942, in Dallas, Texas to Effie Wible and Marshall Lee Davis. He was a proud graduate of Rylie High School, class of 1960. He attended Henderson Junior College and the University of North Texas.
Olen met Nita Gilreath in the sixth grade. They began dating when they were seniors in high school. They fell madly in love and were married on February 1, 1963, in Dallas, Texas at Pleasant Grove Christian Church.
They were married for 61 years. They loved one another truly and deeply.
They were each other's dearest friend. Their marriage has served as a role model to their children and grandchildren.
Nita and Olen were partners, in business and in love. Olen and Nita moved to Mesquite, Texas in 1966.
Throughout their life they operated various businesses together, including a candy company in Town East Mall.
Their most notable venture was Olen T. Davis and Associates Real Estate Company, founded in 1971 with Olen as the real estate broker. The firm continues to successfully operate today.
Olen and Nita had three children, Elizabeth, Olen Davis Jr. (Bubba), and Elliott. His children were the joy of his life. He passed on to his children the value of hard work, family, faith, and fun.
Olen had a love for life that was unmatched. He loved to play a round of golf, snow ski with his family, play in his baseball and softball leagues, watch the horses run at Lone Star Park, hunt deer, tend to his garden of tomatoes, play the slots in Las Vegas, travel with his dear friends, sing the hoorah song, and throw washers at Cedar Creek. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He loved his people, and his people loved him. He will be missed tremendously.
Olen is preceded in death by his mother Effie Wyble Davis; his father Marshall Lee Davis; his brother M.L. Davis; and many close cousins, aunts, and uncles. He also lost too many close friends to mention. He loved them all so much.
Olen is survived by his wife, Nita Davis; daughter, Elizabeth
Leath; sons, Olen Davis Jr. (Bubba) and Elliott Davis; son-in-law, Woodson Leath; daughters-in-law, Kristi Davis and Jana Davis; grandchildren, Chandler and Nathan Clark, Ashtyn and Mickey Landen, Wyatt Leath, Gracyn and Dillon Paschall, Delaney Davis, Kennedy Leath, Logan Davis, Elliott Davis, and Katherine Davis; great-grandchildren, Brighton Hurst and Truman Clark; his sister Laveme Davis Wilcox; his nieces Carleen and Mike Bean and Marty and Bill Sawchuck; and numerous Wyble and Davis cousins. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
We are thankful for his faith and acceptance of Jesus as his savior. Though our hearts grieve this loss, we find great comfort in the promise of a resurrection and the hope of a future reunion with Olen in heaven.
