Norma Rae Nicks

Norma Rae Nicks April 7, 1931 - Oct 4, 2014 Norma went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a brief illness October 4 2014.Born Norma Nelson in Council Bluffs, IA, she grew up in Oklahoma City. It was there that Norma met the love of her life, Robert Franklin Nicks. After graduating from Putman City High School, she went to work for Bell Telephone as a switch operator and married Robert in 1951. They raised four children. She worked for a time for the Dallas Independent School District as an office assistant. In retirement Norma and Bob traveled extensively in the U.S. and abroad. Norma was preceded in death by her father, Earl Nelson, mother Frances Nelson, sistersMarjorie & Virginia Thompson and husband Bob. She is survived by her son Larry & Pat Nicks, daughter Cheryl Turcotte, daughter Carla Kean and daughter Diana & Jody Hill. Her grandchildren Chuck, Nicole, Denise, Brandon, Stacy, Samantha and great-grandchildren Caleb, Kaileigh, Cambry, Ryleigh, Micah, Reese and Joel. If desired memorials can be sent to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231 Visitation will be Monday October 6 from 5 to 7pm and Services will be Tuesday October 7 at 2pm at New Hope Funeral Home located at 500 US Hwy 80, Sunnyvale, TX 75182.
