Norma Jean Edwards

Norma Jean Edwards came into this wonderful world 9/5/1928. She left this life in the arms of Jesus Christ 2/6/17. Norma was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Dale Earnest Edwards, in 2008; her parents: Edward Earl Gilreath and Cordy Oneta McMullen Gilreath; sister and brother-in-law, Bernice and Autry Bardin and brother Cloise Eugene Gilreath. Her surviving family includes a sister, Nita Raye Gilreath Davis and brother-in-law, Olen Truman Davis; Nieces & nephews, Elizabeth Leath, Olen Davis Jr., Elliott Gilreath Davis, Richard and Phillip Bardin, Keith Gilreath, Kathy Amjad and Carla Foster. Norma graduated Forrest Avenue High School, Dallas, Texas 1946and attended Draughns Business School, Norma hit the ground running and never stopped embracing every adventure that came her way while serving the LORD and being a loving and faithful wife and surrounding herself completely with her family first and her wonderful church family. She was a long time member of Saturn Road Church of Christ. She married Dale Edwards 12/9/1949. She retired from Western Electric in 1981 with 34 years of service. She and Dale learned to ski at age 60 to join the younger members of the family in their yearly ski trips.They traveled the USA, Canada, Europe, Bulgaria and multiple riverboat cruises, but loved The Waldorf Astoria and New York City most of all. She never gave up caring for others and fighting to stay well and enjoy life. She will be missed. Honorary Pallbearers: Richard Bardin, Kendal Bardin, Olen T. Davis, Jr., Elliot Davis, Woody Leath, Keith Gilreath, Wyatt Leath and Elliot Davis. A Graveside Service will be held for Norma on Thursday February 9, 2017 at 11:30AM at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas.
