They had two children, David Bruce Pope born in Lake City Florida on November 15, 1945 and Bryan Thomas Pope born in Abilene, Texas on March 5, 1958. Bass worked as a geophysicist and landman for several oil companies and accordingly they moved all over West Texas and Eastern New Mexico before finally settling in Midland, Texas in 1968. While in Midland she was a member of the Pink Ladies who are a group of women who volunteer at Midland Memorial Hospital. She also loved the arts and painted and needle pointed. Tragically, her beloved Bass preceded her in 1978 when she was only 55 but she never felt sorry for herself. Although she had been a full time mom for the past 20 years, she got a job at Ms. Bs bookstore in Midland and continued with her community activities. When her son Bruce and his wife Martha McEvoy Pope blessed her with her first two grandchildren, Brandon and then Katharine, she became Mama Jane to all the family. Later, her other son Bryan married Denice Clark Pope and they gave her three more grandchildren, Jordan, Clark and Bryce. She moved to Rockwall, Texas in 2004 to be closer to family and spent the last several years at Summer Ridge assisted living in Rockwall. While there she lived to love her five great-grandchildren: Abby and Xander born to Katharine and her husband Justin Foley; and Alex, Ben and Teddy (the triplets ) born to Brandon and his wife Nicole Roberts Pope. She loved flowers especially geraniums and her African violet. She had a beautiful singing voice. She was never in a hurry and lived life one day at a time. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed by all. Her funeral service will be held at New Hope Funeral Home on Thursday July 19, 2012 at 2:00pm and she will be laid to rest next to Bass at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetary in Midland on Friday July 20th at 3:00pm.
