Nadene was 52 years old when she went to meet her savior at her home in Wills Point, Texas on Wednesday, September 19, 2012. Nadene was born on May 20, 1960 in Elgin, Illinois to the proud parents of William L. and Bobbye Sladek. Nadene grew up in Elk Grove Village, Ill. attending grade school and High School in Elk Grove. Nadene attended the First Baptist Church of Elk Grove where she was Baptist at a very early age and where she sang in the choir.She loved attending church and singing about Jesus. In school, Nadene traveled all over the school district performing with the choir.Nadene had a beautiful voice and loved to sing.She was a member of a girls band of four vocalists where she was a singer and played the guitar. The name of the Band SAND was derived from the first letter of the first name of each of the girls.SAND performed at weddings and school functions. Nadene loved music.She attended concerts with her family and friends whenever she could.Some of her favorite artists through the years included Styx, Genesis, Heart, Peter Paul and Mary, Amy Grant, Anne Murray, Bill & Gloria Gaither, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot, James Taylor, Jason Mraz, Dave Matthews Band, and Jimmy Buffet who became the artist whose concerts she loved to see and participate in as a true Parrot Head. After High School, Nadene went to work at Hitachi as the only receptionist for 200 employees and this is where she met her future husband, David Wellborn.It was love at first sight and they were married in the Elk Grove First Baptist Church five months later on August 25, 1979. They were married until 1997. There were two beautiful daughters born of this union, Rashay Lynn and Breanna Fay. Nadene was a devoted Mother, and Grandmother. Her life was her family.She loved dressing her adorable daughters in beautiful frilly matching dresses and matching bows in their curled hair.Nadene always said that all she ever wanted to be in life was a Mother (and eventually a Grandmother). Nadene received her Associate of Science in Nursing from Trinity Valley Community College and became a Registered Nurse in 2005.She was four classes shy of receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington before she passed. Nadene was employed at Texas Oncology as an infusion nurse where her loving, nurturing compassionate nature, blessed many patients.She definitely found her calling as a cancer nurse and loved every minute of working with patients.They sure loved her too! Nadene Sladek is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law Rashay (and Matthew Bradford) of Plano, Tx, Breanna Wellborn (and Jon Chancey) of Dallas, Tx, three grandchildren Waylon William Chancey, Nathaniel Roland Bradford and Hannah Christine Chancey; her parents William and Bobbye Sladek of Hattiesburg, MS, sister Adrienne (and husband Kenneth Yanko) of Joliett, Il, brother William Dale Sladek (and wife Margaret) from Huntley, Il. sister Nicole (and husband Rob) of Hattisburg, Ms; three nieces and three nephews and three great nephews; and many, many cousins and friends. Nadenes life celebration is set for 12:00 noon, Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the New Hope Funeral Home, located at 500 East Hwy. 80, Sunnyvale, Tx. Visitation is scheduled immediately preceding the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment is at the Memorial Gardens adjacent to the funeral home.
