Myra D. Borden

Myra D. Borden passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2009, in Dallas, Texas. She was eighty-one years of age and died of natural causes. She was born on June 10, 1928, in Pleasant Valley, Wisconsin, the fourth of nine children. Myra was a faithful wife and loving mother of three boys. She was a woman of God, matriarch, intercessor, true Christian warrior, and missionary to the nations. She was a beloved grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She attended Christian City Church in Rowlett and Eagles Nest in Wylie and was a member of the local chapter of Womens Aglow International.She attended International Bible College in San Antonio, Texas, and Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Myras lifelong goals and dreams revolved around spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. After attending mission field training at Youth with a Mission (YWAM) in Hawaii, her dreams of reaching the nations were fulfilled in 1977 when she travelled to Japan and later to China. For years, Myra dedicated her life to smuggling Bibles, teaching English, and ministering to untold numbers in coffee houses and small mountain churches throughout the orient. All her life, she ministered to those around her, offering prayer support for needs and praying that those who did not know Jesus would come to know Him as Lord and Savior. Only in eternity will the impact of her earthly ministry be fully known. Myra was preceded in death by the late William B. Borden. They were married on September 20, 1947, at the Baptist Church parsonage in Hastings, Minnesota. She was also preceded in death by her parents, the late Walter P. and Mary A. Lewallen of Stanley, Wisconsin, and her brother, Jonathan Jack Lewallen of Stanley, Wisconsin. She is survived by her three sons and their wives, Bill W. and Connie R. Borden of Allen, Texas, Gerald (Gary) R. and Janet M. Borden of Slinger, Wisconsin, and Bruce D. and Teresa J. Borden of Rowlett, Texas; her grandchildren, Christopher J. Borden, Lance B. Borden, Kimberly A. and her husband Nathan Kunz, Elizabeth M. and her husband Jeremy Giese, Summer A. and her husband Dustin Rivera, and Chelsea E. Borden; her great-grandchildren Parker Giese, Gavin Kunz and Connor Giese; her siblings Lorrayne Zuercher, Glen Lewallen, William Lewallen, Helen Adelyne Velie, Arnold Lewallen, Claire Lewallen, and David Lewallen. Her visitation will be held at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, Texas, on Monday, November 23, 2009, from six to eight o clock in the evening. Her funeral will also be held at New Hope Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 24, at ten o clock in the morning. She will be laid to rest at the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetary. All family and friends are invited to honor her memory by attending any of the aforementioned services.
