Milton Gail Spears was born on October 25, 1945 in San Bernadino, California to Robert Jerry Spears and Thelma Spears. Due to his fathers occupation as a contract carpenter, he moved quite often, attending 13 schools in 12 years. In 1957, he and his family returned to the Dallas area where he attended Conner Junior High and ultimately graduated from Seagoville High School in 1964. During his years in High School, he played football as Number 77 (a number he was quite proud of) and even held the state record for the shock put throw in track and field. Milton married Jeannette Gaddis in April of 1964. In 1966 a son was added to their union. He was to be named Guy Wayne Spears , but that was quickly changed when Milton saw the uncanny resemblance to himself, subsequently Milton Gail Spears, Jr. became his name. Milton was an accomplished carpenter and always moved quickly through the ranks to become the Superintendent or Job Manager for the company for which he worked. He built many apartments, homes, and office buildings in the greater Dallas area and even began his own Custom Home business in 1980. In 1985 he pioneered a church in Balch Springs, Texas and named it Dayspring Church. Due to his unique insight into the Word of God and his intense love for people, the church quickly grew to a membership of over 400. His generosity and compassion enabled many people to be saved and filled with the power of the Holy Ghost. In 1988 he was commissioned as a chaplain for the Balch Springs police department. On February 14, 1996, Milton married Teresa Martinez Adams. Together they built a home for their family: Rex Jr., Kevin, Crystal, and Tamara, whom he dearly loved and entreated as his own. As always, he found favor with every employer and enjoyed great success, and in the last few years had the privilege of working for long-time friends, James and Nell Finch. Milton was an avid golfer and served as a course marshal at the Mesquite Golf Course. He loved black bass fishing, hunting, guns, model building, drafting and design and was quite the artist. He loved to laugh and had a remarkable sense of humor. Most of all, he loved God, His Word, and people. He passed from this life on October 11, 2009, but will forever be remembered for his vigor for life, compassion for everyone, the ability to know it all , his cockeyed snicker, unbelievable strength and determination to hold out to the end. He is preceded in death by his parents: Robert "Jerry" & Thelma Spears; sister: Jerryline Rose; and brother: Wayne Spears. He is survived by his wife: Teresa Spears; children: Milton G.
