Millard Franklin Lawrence Thompson was born June 22, 1927 to Ella Mae Riddle and Sam Bose Thompson. He went home to be with the Lord on August 20, 2009. Millard was a quiet man, yet never met a stranger. He was a lifelong resident of Dallas. He joined the Navy when he was 16 during WWII stationed at Subic Bay, Philippines. He married Geraldine Jones on May 30, 1947 for 60 happy years of marriage. With his wife, he was founder of Sunbeam Foods. He loved to travel in his RV and had visited all 50 states. A member of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church, he loved the Lord and served him in many areas of the church. He was always joking around and loved to play with his children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Geri, two brothers, James E. and Kenneth E. Thompson. He is survived by one brother, Charles E. Thompson, daughters: Pam Armstrong , husband Don; Barbie Kraig, husband Richard; Melinda Weston, husband David; and son Doug, partner David Bayers. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the caregivers from Angel Health Care for their loving service to Dad. Family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. at New Hope Funeral Home, Sunday, Aug. 23. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 24. at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church with burial following at Grove Hill Cemetery.
