Michael Blair Steele of Mesquite, born August 18, 1955, passed away of natural causes on June 17, 2015. He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his beloved wife of 17 years, Marcy Steele; adorning daughter, Erica Steele; loving parent, Mamie Steele; and loving sisters, Susan Speciale and Carolyn Payne. He was cherished and loved by his extended family. His mother-in-law, Shirley Benat; father-in-law Alvin Benat; sister-in-law, Lisa McMillen; brother-in-law, Steve Payne; adorning nieces and nephew, Sabina Payne, Jensen, Madisen, Graysen and Emersen McMillen. He was predeceased by his father, Ronald Blair Steele. Above all, Mike was absolutely devoted to his wife and daughter. He was a father who always involved himself in every detail of his daughter’s life and supported, respected and loved his wife. He and Marcy were each other’s companion and best friend. Mike shared a deep spiritual connection with his family. Mike was a wonderful brother and son; he was the rock of the family, after his dad passed away at the age of 16. He was proud to step in to give loving support, guidance and advice. Mike was involved in numerous non-denominational churches throughout his adulthood and was a member of Mimosa Lane Baptist Church. He was a great scholar and student of God's word. He was a man of strong faith, believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love and the beauty and peace that would await him for an eternity after his passing. He was a true servant of God, now home with His Lord and Savior! “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”John 3:16. Mike was born in Dallas and grew up in Richardson, Texas. He completed a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a master’s degree in Business at Texas Tech University. After a lengthy career in IT sales, he continued the pursuit of learning about advanced technology. Growing up Mike enjoyed traveling, hiking, snow skiing, scuba diving and tinkering with electronics and radios. He volunteered in his community, especially enjoying serving those in the Meals on Wheels program, and Young Life leader. Mike always had a passion for learning new things. Mike was truly blessed with loving family and friends. He loved spending quality time with them. He shared in a love of country music with his daughter, avid reader of numerous topics, enjoyed old western shows and football. He was respected and admired by his neighbors, church associates, college buddies and business colleagues, which led to some lifelong friendships. Mike dearly cherished his pets Sheba, Blackie, Chelsea and Heidi. His entertaining sense of humor, compassion and support will never be forgotten. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, son and dear friend. He was deeply loved by all whose lives he touched.
