Brother Michael Powell was born to the parentage of Mr. Johnny A. Powell and Barbara E. Powell on January 18, 1962 in Mesquite, Texas. He attended Public School in the Mesquite Independent School District and was a graduate of Mesquite High School with the class of 1980. He later furthered his education at Eastfield College in Mesquite, before taking a position with CFI Transportations. Michael then worked with the United States Postal Service where he faithfully served for more than ten years until his health began to fail. He was united in holy matrimony to Alma Garza Escobedo in December of 1992 and to this union they were blessed with three children. To God be the glory. He was truly a blessing to all that knew him and will be missed by many. He leaves to treasure his memories, his wife Alma; two daughters, Catherine Kay and Cinthia Marlet; one son, John Michael Powell of Mesquite, Texas; a loving mother, Mrs. Barbara E. Powell of Mesquite; one brother, Steven Powell and wife Lorraine of Tyler, Texas. Three sisters, Nancy Powell of Van Buren, Arkansas; DeAnn Chisholm and husband Russ of San Diego, California and Sandy Hartzell and husband Randy of Seattle, Washington. A host of nieces, nephews, family and many friends. Someone wrote that, "Life is not measured by how long you live. Life is measured by what we do with the time that God gives us". We thank God for Michael.
