Maxine Patricia Bandy

July 11, 1934 — October 13, 2020

Our beloved Mother, Maxine Patricia Bandy, silently drifted into the arms of her Lord and Savior at 2:05 pm on October 13, 2020. Maxine was born in Flint, Michigan on July 11, 1934 to Max Charles Falk and Leona Mae Campau. Maxine married Melvin Ray Bandy June 3, 1952 and they had seven children. Although their marriage ended in divorce in 1978, Maxine and Mel remained friends throughout most of their lives. Maxine moved to Mesquite, Texas in 1961, where she raised her family.

While raising seven children, Maxine, a stay-at-home mom, took in sewing to supplement the family income. Maxine went on to work for Joske’s Department stores in the late 1970’s and then Minyard’s Food Stores in the mid-1980s. Maxine started at Minyard’s as a cashier. However, she quickly rose through the ranks to manage the grocery home delivery service from the Minyard’s gourmet flagship store located in the Preston-Forest shopping center in Dallas, Texas. This was a unique service in the 1990s and Maxine and her employees were pioneers in the grocery delivery service in the North Dallas and Park Cities area.

After her retirement from Minyard’s in 2000, Maxine moved to Alba, Texas, building what she called her “log cabin in the woods,” to live out her golden years. Maxine was a member of the ladies’ auxiliary at St. Peter the Apostle Parish in Mineola, Texas during her time in Alba.  Maxine was an avid gardener, she loved to cook, sew, crochet, craft, read and do home improvements. She was a life-long learner, and she had a great thirst for knowledge. The most important thing in Maxine’s life however, was her family.

Maxine is preceded in death by her sons, Patrick Leonard Bandy (2005) and Melvin Ray Bandy (2012), and her daughter Lynne Marie Bandy (2016). She is survived by her sister Bethany Magee of Walled Lake, Michigan, daughters Michele Baker and her husband, Kenneth Baker of Mesquite, Texas, Lisa Bandy of Alpharetta, Georgia, Kristen Kidder of Mesquite Texas, and her son, Michael Bandy of Alba, Texas, as well as 12 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.

Interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rowlett, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations in Maxine’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
