Mary Leah Sayen

March 15, 1965 — June 7, 2019

Mary Leah Sayen, 54, of Quinlan, TX, passed away in her home surrounded by family and friends on June 7, 2019. She was born on March 15, 1965 in Coos Bay, Oregon to Billie Ray and Wanda Jean Haggard. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 31 years, Daniel Bruce Sayen. She spent her life sharing her love as a registered nurse for 20 plus years. She was a loving daughter, a dedicated wife, a cherished mother and NaNa, a wonderful sister, and a loyal and compassionate friend. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, and was phenomenal at it. You could always find Mary outdoors, camping or fishing, or playing with her grandchildren. She loved tending her garden, and making sure her nails looked beautiful. If you ask anyone who knew Mary, the thing they remembered most about her is how quick witted she is and all the practical jokes she would play. To most of her family she was known as “Gidget”, a nickname that her father gave her as an infant. She is survived by her parents Billie and Wanda Haggard of Ft. Worth, her daughter Michelle and husband Josh Utley of Quinlan, her sons Nicholas Sayen and fianc Shelby Echevarria of Addison, Aren and wife Alissia Haggard of Ft. Worth, and Daniel Keith Sayen of Mesquite. Her grandchildren Savannah and Brooklyn Utley, Dakota and Nathaniel Sayen, and Jackson and Carson Haggard. Her brothers Billie Haggard and husband Travis Stephenson of Dallas, Ricky Haggard of Ft. Worth, and Lewis Haggard of Ft. Worth. Her sisters Sherrie and husband Greg Arnold of Flower Mound, and Rejeana Haggard of Corinth. Also many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She left behind her loyal friend, partner in crime, and side by side coworker Laurie McLemee of Wills Point. The family would be honored for everyone to visit on Tuesday, June 11 from 5-7 P.M. Her celebration of life will be Wednesday, June 12 at noon. All services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale. There will be a reception to follow at the home of Cheryl Elrod.
