Mary Ruth Smith Perry, 83, of Mesquite,Tx went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 17, 2023.

Mary was born on April 22, 1939 in El Paso, Texas, to William Joel Smith and Myrtle Louella Smith.

Mary graduated from Blossom High School in 1957. Upon graduation, she moved to Dallas, Texas, and began working for J.C. Penney. She married Billy Perry on September 14, 1963, in Dallas, Texas. The couple had 4 children: Justin, Julie, Cindy and Susan. Mary was a homemaker for many years. Mary knew how to stretch a dollar and she passed on her love of savings, coupons, bargains and Black Friday shopping to her daughters.

Mary was a loving daughter, a fun sister, a faithful wife, a loyal and devoted mother, a hilarious mother-in-law, and a caring friend to all who knew her.

The selfless love, understanding, patience and tenacity that Mary exhibited in caring for Julie will always be remembered and cherished by her family.

Mary loved life, and her hearty laugh was contagious. Mary was a wonderful cook, creating many delicious meals from scratch. She also loved to garden and tend her flower beds, keeping them beautiful. Mary was also an avid reader, spending many hours reading the bible. Her love of travel took her to several different places in the United States. The greatest pride and joy of her life were her grandchildren.

Mary went on to earn a certificate in Business from Eastfield College in 1989. She began her career as a Clerk for Dallas County Adult Probation Office in 1990, retiring in 2005.

Mary is preceded in death by her father, William Joel Smith, her mother, Myrtle Louella Smith, her brother, Bill Smith, and her sisters Martha Jo Enoch, Dorothy Barcus, Virgie Wyvell, and Evelyn Alley.

Mary is survived by her husband, Billy Perry, her children: Justin (Michelle) Perry of Mount Vernon, Texas, Julie Perry of Garland, Texas, Cindy (Jeff) Inman of Hephzibah, Georgia, and Susan (Randy) House of Forney, Texas. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Brittany (Scott) Temple of Walmohr, Germany, Travis (Bailey) Perry of Sedalia, Missouri, Mallory Inman of Hephzibah, Georgia, Ruthie Inman of Hephzibah, Georgia, and Nathan House of Forney, Texas; great-grandchildren: Jude Perry and Sebastian Perry of Sedalia, Missouri; siblings, Pat York of Mesquite, Texas, Linda Carter of Reno,Texas, Jerry (Penny) Smith of Longview, Texas and Kelly (Susan) Smith of Blossom,Texas

The family wishes to extend our heartfelt love and appreciation to all the staff at Lillie's Place (Christian Care Center) in Mesquite, Texas, for their outstanding compassion and care of Mary since November 2020.

The service for Mary Ruth Smith Perry will be held on Thursday, March 23, at 10:00 am at New Hope Funeral Home, 500 E US 80, Sunnyvale, Texas 75182.

Burial: Thursday, March 23 at 2:30 pm at Bethel Cemetery, C R 1235, Detroit, Texas 75436
