MARVIN ERNEST COLE, SR.
Marvin Cole at the age of 87 went home to be with the Lord on February 19, 2025.
Marvin was born on August 9, 1937 in Haughton, LA to Louise (Winters) and Hugh Cole. He was a 1955 graduate of Chandler High School, Chandler, TX. Marvin was married on May 24, 1957 to his sweetheart, Deon Morman. He served in the US Air Force from October 10, 1957 until November 29, 1965. After leaving the Air Force he accepted a position with Mosler Safe Company in Atlanta, GA. He was later transferred to Birmingham, AL. After leaving Mosler Safe Company he went to work for Dayton Superior and was eventually transferred to Dallas, TX. He left Dayton Superior for a position with Lee Roy Jordan Lumber Company.
In the spring of 1971, Marvin accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized on Palm Sunday. After surrendering to the call to preach he was Licensed by Sentell Baptist Church to preach the Gospel on February 5, 1975. He began his preaching ministry by going into jails, prisons and homeless missions. After moving to Texas he was licensed to preach on May 20, 1984 by Seagoville Road Baptist Church. On November 12, 1986, he was Ordained by Victory Baptist Church in Mesquite, where he was Pastor until retiring from preaching and Lee Roy Jordan in 2002.
Marvin loved music and was a talented steel guitarist. He played his slide guitar until loosing two fingers in an accident. After retiring, he never missed an opportunity to lead music during a church service. To know Marvin was to love him. He was a true people person. The residents and staff at his assisted living facility loved and spoke highly of him. His humor was contagious. He never complained an was always ready to tell a joke or quick with a come back line.
Marvin is preceded in death by his wife, Alice "Deon" Cole, parents, Hugh and Louise Cole, brothers, Thomas "Buford"Cole, Hugh Cole., J.R. Cole and sisters, Edith Harriman and Maxine Mewbourn.
Marvin is survived by his four children, Tammie Cooper, Beth Stutts, Marvin Cole, Jr., John Cole, four grandchildren, Joshua Cooper, Caleb Cole, Lauren Stutts, Elizabeth Stutts, six great grandchildren, Cash Cooper, Conner Cole, Chase Cole, Chandler Cole, Julien Collins, Liza Collins and sisters, Gennerserit Cole and Myrolynn Condit.
Marvin will be missed!
A graveside service will be held at Rock Hill Cemetery in Brownsboro, TX on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 10:30 A.M.
