Martha Morse Phillips

Martha Morse Phillips died unexpectedly November 12, 2017.A service will be held at the New Hope Funeral Home, 500 East Highway 80, Sunnyvale, Texas on Friday November 17, at 11:00AM with a celebration of her life being held immediately following at the Dallas Athletic Club, 4111 Dallas Athletic Club Drive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. Martha was born in Fort Worth, Texas on January 13, 1958 to parents Richard Giles and Gretchen Wormhoudt Hackney.Martha Graduated from Texas Christian University with a degree in dance and subsequently performed for the Butler and Pittsburgh ballet.Martha met her husband Frederick Sherwood Phillips Jr. in 1984 and they were married in 1987 at All Saints Episcopal Church.During their 30 year marriage, they raised 3 sons, Frederick Sherwood Phillips III (Trey), Richard Blair Phillips and Wesley Graham Phillips. Martha’s career transitioned into private athletic training and she later obtained her Master’s degree in Kinesiology so that she might share her gifts with others. Martha was an avid snow skier and enjoyed the love of her many dogs over the years. Martha is survived by her husband, Fred, sons, Trey, Rick, and Wes, sisters, Sarah Ott from Austin and Tracy Owen from Larchmont, NY and father Richard Giles Hackney and stepmother, Sandra from Fort Worth. Martha is preceded in death by her mother, Gretchen Wormhoudt. Martha was also graced with many loving family members including brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
