Maria Nunez

Maria Virginia "Virgie" Nunez, daughter of Faustina Martinez and the late Juan Hernandez was born on December 10, 1952 in McAllen, Texas. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality she was loved by so many. Her spiritual life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She quietly departed this life on Friday, November 15, 2024 at her home. She was one of nine children, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Faustino Hernandez, Juanio Hernandez and one sister, Esther Abelino.

Virgie loved to read her bible, devotionals and Chicken Soup for the Soul books, praying for and with others, word searches, spendng time shopping with family and friends, laughing and always wearing a smile on her face. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, and friend, always thinking of others first. "To know her was to love her."

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of spouse, Sammy Mireles; her sons, Hector Joe Nunez, Jr. (Victoria Nunez), Jose Angelo Nunez and John Paul Nunez (Tanya Nunez); her step-daughters, Mindy Rios (Fernando Rios) and Rachel Botello (Victor Botello), 17 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024 at New Hope Funeral Home. Following visitation, a Rosary will be at 11:00 a.m. and the funeral service will begin at noon.
