Mrs. Margaret Sue (Stephens) Taylor, age 83, of Garland, Texas, departed this life on Thursday morning, January 19th, 2023, surrounded by family in her home. Mrs. Taylor was born November 25th, 1939 at the former Florence Nightingale Maternity Hospital in Dallas, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Herman Richard "Steve" Stephens and Earlyne (Hyles) Stephens.
Funeral Services will be on Monday January 23rd, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Lavon Drive Baptist Church "Hayes Center", 1520 Lavon Drive, Garland, Texas with Dr. Robert A. Ross, Jr., Dr. Virgil V. Porter, Jr., and Pastor Kerby Richmon officiating. Visitation at the Hayes Center will be held Monday January 23rd, 2023 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM. Internment will be at 2:00 PM at New Hope Memorial Gardens, 500 E Hwy 80, Sunnyvale, Texas, officiated by Pastor Eddie Paul Oats.
Margaret was a loving Christian lady and will be greatly missed by family and friends. She faithfully taught the Toddler Sunday School Class at Northside Baptist Church, Garland, Texas, for 28 years. She also served as the Church Secretary and Pianist for 15 years. She was a member of Open Door Baptist Church in Mesquite, Texas, and worked for 12 years at Willard Heating & Air in Forney, Texas.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years: Carlous Adrian Taylor of Garland, Texas; four children: Eddie Paul Oats of Festus, Missouri, Cynthia "Cindy" Gale (Don) Crutcher of Forney, Texas, Sandra "Sandy" Sue (Richard) Hirtle of New Strawn, Kansas, William "Bill" Criswell (Tracey) Oats of Sachse, Texas; two stepchildren: Vincent "Vince" Bryan Taylor of Canton, Texas, Patrick Lynn (Alejandra) Taylor of Parker, Texas; two stepsisters: Pamela "Pam" Jean Tomme of Houghton, Louisiana, Linda Kathryn "Kathy" (Dave) Young of Tyler, Texas; 20 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Willis Athey and Coystal Mattie (Frasure) Hyles, Neely Joshua and Myrtle Odessa (Wilson) Stephens; parents: Herman Richard "Steve" Stephens and Earlyne (Hyles) Stephens; twin sister: Athie Lue Denny of Garland, Texas; grandson: David Eugene Orner; son in law: Christian "Chris" David Orner; and daughter in law: Karen Renee (Moore) Oats.
Services are under the direction of New Hope Funeral Home, Sunnyvale, TX.
