Margaret Jane Cooksey aka Nanny was born in Mesquite, Texas on October 24, 1938 to Eula Faye and Clifton Alton Ragsdale.She spent her whole life in Mesquite, Texas where she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to many. Margaret was an outgoing, fun loving, kind woman who loved taking care of not only her kids but also numerous nieces, nephew, grandkids, great grandkids, and their friends. She loved to bake and instilled her love for baking into her great granddaughters. She was a huge sports fan and enjoyed watching all of the different sports but the Cowboys and Rangers were her favorite. Margaret is preceded in death by her husband of 36 years Leon Cooksey in 1992; parents, brothers; Lanny, Jerry, Tommy, Charlie, and Bobby Ragsdale, sisters, Patricia Thurner and Gloria Wimpey;Margaret is survived by daughter, Cheryl Kubat and husband Rick; grandkids, Kandace and Kyle Kirkland, Cortney Oscars, Marlon Oscars, Rocky and Susan Dorsett, Doug and Kristen Kubat, Damon Kubat, and Shelly Minix; great grandkids, Karter and Benji Kirkland, Ashlyn and Halie Oscars, Chase and Tryston Dorsett, Darion, Dayne, Degan, Kaden Kubat, Maddison Rutherford, Blake, Ansley, and Collin Minix; brothers, C.A. and Jimmy Ragsdale; sisters, Vonda Mays, Linda Kay Patterson, Rosie Hudson, Mary Waites, Vicki Davis; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 10 am February 8th at New Hope Funeral Home. Dr. Bill Lundy of Heartland Fellowship Church will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm February 7th at New Hope Funeral Home.Burial will follow the funeral at Long Creek Cemetery.Funeral arrangements are being held at New Hope Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made to the American Heart Society in memory of Margaret Cooksey.
