Marcus “Moose” Ledley Shankle, beloved husband, uncle, and father, joined his wife, parents, and siblings to be with his Heavenly Father on July 9, 2016 at the age of 61.Before he retired to West Tawakoni where he spent his days fishing at his lake house, he lived the majority of his life in east Dallas and the Mesquite area where he raised his family and enjoyed many dear friendships through the years.Motivated by his dearly held Christian faith, he served his community and neighbors through organizations such as the Boy Scouts and his church as well as through personal charity. While he held a variety of jobs, he was most proud of his time as a Project Coordinator for Verizon where he was nicknamed by his colleagues, “The Trash Man,” because there was no job too messy that he couldn’t clean up.As an avid bowler from a family of bowlers, he also set many records at bowling alleys dotted throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He leaves behind his son, Brad Shankle, daughter, Julie Smalley, their spouses, Amanda Smith and Kerry Smalley, a niece and nephew he helped raise as his own, Christy Bricker and Shawn Shankle, and his brother, Robert Shankle. He is also survived by a granddaughter along with many beloved nieces and nephews and their children. His playfulness, generosity, and big heart will be dearly missed by those who knew him.His funeral service will be held on Friday, July 22nd at 11:00 am at New Covenant United Methodist Church in Sunnyvale, Texas.Family and friends are encouraged to arrive an hour early to help us celebrate a cherished life and to fellowship with one another before the service. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please make a donation to Sharing Life Community Outreach, a charity both he and his wife, Doris Shankle, held dear.http://www.sharinglifeoutreach.org/donate
