MAMIE VAUGHN BRATTAIN of Balch Springs, Texas, lovingly referred to as "Gee Gee", passed away August 28, 2006, after battling complications from Alzheimer's disease. Gee Gee was preceded in death by her loving husbands, Bill Vaughn and Ray Tiller, and is survived by her current husband of 23 years, Chuck Brattain.She is survived by her two children: Nora Costlow and husband Mac of Mesquite, Texas and Grady Vaughn of Dallas, Texas; stepdaughter Cindy Burch and husband Mitch of Garland, Texas; stepson Bob Brattain and wife Carolyn of Dallas, Texas; stepson Kenny Brattain and wife Sarah of Flower Mound, Texas; stepson John Brattain and wife Debbie from Florida; granddaughters, Christi Costlow Baker and husband David of Mesquite, TX and Marcy Costlow Callaway and husband Mike of Mesquite, TX; great grandchildren Misty Belcher, Chelsea Wallace, BrookeBaker and Ty Calloway; six step-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. Mamie was born February 16, 1923, in Frankston, Texas, to Drew and Nena Chance.Mamie earned her pilot's license and she, with her husband Bill Vaughn, owned and flew airplanes. While married to Ray Tiller, Gee Gee and Papa Ray loved to go to the lake, fish, bowl and spend time with their grandchildren. Mamie and Chuck were married in 1983.Gee Gee and Chuck enjoyed going to the movies, and one of Gee Gee's favorite things was listening to Chuck play the guitar and other instruments.Mamie was a member of Calvary First Baptist Church of Mesquite, Texas, where her son-in-law, Mac Costlow, is the pastor. The family wishes to thank all of you for your calls, cards, visits, and many acts of kindness during Gee Gee's long illness. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, Texas. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2006, at New Hope Funeral Home with Mac Costlow officiating.Interment will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either the Calvary First Volunteer Student Mission Project (c/o Ryan Meadows, 1002 Peachtree Road, Mesquite, Texas 75149) or to the Alzheimer's Association.
