CANRIGHT, Lydia Woltman of Dallas, born November 24, 1927, passed away January 17, 2006. Lydia Woltman was born near Marlin, Texas, on November 24, 1927. She began picking cotton before she could walk, her mother dragging her through the fields on a burlap bag. By the time Lydia started school, she was reading the German newspaper to her grandmother every week. Lydia graduated from Marlin High School, and then attended Dallas Bible Institute where she graduated in 1948. She worked for a time in Chicago at the Slavic Gospel Association before returning to Dallas Bible Institute as Assistant to the Registrar. After marrying Louis Canright in 1952, Lydia bore three daughters, Grace, Joy, and Faith. Lydia was active in Henderson Bible Church, Grove Bible Church, Riverside Bible Church, and in the PTA of three schools. She played the organ and the accordion and was a gifted pianist: anyone who ever heard her play "The Midnight Fire Alarm" will never forget it. "Laughing Lydia" loved iris and bluebonnets and all things floral. Many years, an annual event would be a midnight watch for her Night-Blooming Cereus to unfurl. Her love for flowers cultivated her love for photography. Lydia traveled extensively with her family, visiting 49 states, Canada, & Mexico. She longed to see Hawaii, and her lifelong dream was a trip to Switzerland, the land of her heritage. In later years, Lydia became an accomplished quilter and was a charter member of the Mesquite Quilt Guild and also a member of the Quilter's Guild of Dallas. Lydia Woltman Canright entered into the presence of the Lord on January 17, 2006. She is loved and she is missed. Preceded in death by sisters, Ruth Perkins and Marie Woltman. Survived by brother Ben Woltman & wife Jackie of Winsboro, Tx; daughters, Grace Wolfe & husband Rich of Idaho City, ID, Joy Brashear & husband, David of Phoenix, AZ, Faith Canright of Mesquite, TX, and also our "Hope" Jeanne Takano of Dallas; 6 grandchildren, Carissa Wolfe, Jessica Wolfe, Daniel Brashear, Micah Wolfe, Shiloh Wolfe, Sarah Brashear; 2 great grandchildren, Isaac Noland, Janae Wolfe.
