Lydia Acosta

November 20, 1932 — September 3, 2024

Our beloved Mother Lydia Esther Acosta passed away peacefully on September 3, 2024 in Rockwall, Texas. She was 91 years young.

Lydia was born and raised in San Juan Puerto Rico on November 20, 1932. She met and married the love of her life, Agustin Acosta until his death in February of this year. They were married 68 years. She stood by his side during his journey through medical school and as he became a Doctor of Osteopath in Garland Texas, where they came to officially reside.

Lydia was more than a central figure and devoted Mother to her children, grandchild, and her great grandchild's life, that was very important to her. At an early stage of her children's lives Lydia taught her children life skills and what to expect each day. She always took the time to show us the meaning of gratitude, patience, and appreciation to family and friends, as well as our work colleagues. She has instilled this in us.

Lydia's hobbies included a love for reading. She loved mystery novels, and she enthusiastically would try and solve the ending. She also loved watching Spanish soap operas, getting involved in all the cattiness in the characters.

Lydia's motto was always, "No matter what happens, keep moving forward".

Lydia was a very loving, generous woman to all that knew her. She always had a big smile on her face, and she leaves behind a legacy of kindness and strength. She will be greatly missed.

Leaving behind to cherish her memories are her son David Acosta, daughter Marla Howell and husband Brian Howell, granddaughter Brianna Turner and great grandchild Preston Brand.
