Lott Lewis Shell III, age 79, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 6, 2020. The son of Lott Shell, Jr. and Ruby Dean Shell, he was born August 22, 1941 in Stamford, Texas. He spent his growing-up years in Abilene, Texas and graduated from Abilene High School in 1959. In 1960, he married Peggy Jane Edwards, and they had four children…Russell Lynn, Alisa René, Victor Lewis, and Jeremy Alan.
In 1991, Lewis married Mary York in 1991.
Several years after her death in 2015, he married Melissa Hampton in 2017 who was a great help and comfort to him in his last years.
During his life, Lewis served a stint in the Texas Army National Guard before taking positions with Texas Instruments, and later with Hogan systems. It was while working with Hogan Systems that he had the opportunity to spend time in Germany, England, New York and South Carolina. Lewis loved to travel, so following his retirement he visited various places around the United States, but his favorite vacation spot of all was Colorado. In his opinion, Colorado was the nearest place to Heaven he could find on earth.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister, Kathleen Shell Scott, two sons, Victor and Russell Shell, and his beloved wife of almost 20 years, Mary York Shell.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa, a sister, Priscilla (Deana) Carmack, and children Alisa Allen and Jeremy Shell as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lewis loved the Lord, loved the church and loved his family.
