Lonnie Wayland Wilson of Forney, Texas, was born December 15, 1944, and passed away August 17, 2009. He was preceded in death by parents, George Robert & Elizabeth Wilson of Lamesa, TX andbrother, Bill Wilson of Dallas, TX. He is survived by wife, Linda Wilson; children, Dawn Gardner & her spouse, Stacy, of Midlothian, TX and Michael Wilson & his wife, Kristi of Forney, TX; grandchildren, LeAnna Gardner, Blake Gardner, Halle Gardner, Garrett Wilson, Brylee Wilson; his twin brother, Leonard Gayland Wilson of Garland, TX and hissister, Linda Moore of Phoenix, AZ. Lonnie was an honorable man who, through the Army,proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He received the following commendations and badges:Sharpshooter Badge (Rifle), Expert Badge (Machine Gun), Parachutist Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, National Defense Service Medal and Unit Citation Medal with One Overseas Bar. Lonniewas an electricianwith the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 59 & 20for most of his working years, and has always been known for his hard work ethic. Along with many other achievements,he taught himself to fly and received hisairplane pilot license. He loved to go out country and western dancing,spend time at the ocean watching the boats come in,and fishing. He alsoenjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He looked forward to watching Blake Gardner play football; Garrett Wayland Wilson play his first t-ball game; LeAnna Gardner graduate from college; Brylee Wilson take her first steps and Halle Gardner at her first cheerleading competition. Lonnie, Dad and Papa will be missed by all of us, but especially his loving wife of 28 years, Linda Ruth. We are thankful for the time we had with him and the peace he now has found. Our family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Vitas Hospice Charity Fund or the charitable organization of your choice. We are especially thankful to the Vitas Hospice staff, Audrey and Terry, and Brother Dan Carroll whohave helped usduring this difficult time. Memorial Services will be held at theDallas-Fort WorthNational Cemetery in Dallas, TX on Friday, August 21, 2009 at 10:00 am.
