LEAKE, Jr., Loncy Lot, born March 11, 1925 in Mulberry, AR., passed away July 31, 2005. Raised in Greenville, TX., he was active in the Boy Scouts of America and played high school football.He graduated from Greenville high School in 1942.He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II.He graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1951, with a law degree and came to Mesquite to practice law and establish a title office for Southwest Title Company.He practiced law in Mesquite until his retirement in 1993.He served in many capacities, including Ruling Elder and Sunday School Teacher at First Presbyterian Church and Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Mesquite, as one of the original Trustees of the Dallas County Community College District, as Member of the North Texas Municipal Water Board, as President and Member of Mesquite Chamber of Commerce, as City Council Member for the City of Mesquite, and as President and Member of Stone Steppers Square and Round Dance Club.He was instrumental in bringing Little League Baseball to Mesquite and the original baseball field at City Lake Park was renamed in his honor in 2001. He was preceded in death by father, Loncy Lot Leake, Sr.; mother, Mae (Meme) Leake; sister, Agnes Lawhon & husband, Ray.He is survived by his wife, Bettye Leake and sons, Stephen Leake & wife, Susan, David Leake & wife, Judy, Paul (Randy) Leake & wife, Dianne; nephew, Michael Shelton & wife, Jan; grandchildren, Carissa Meyer & husband, Matt, Sarah Leake, Andrew Leake, Aaron Jordan & wife, Kelli, Shelly Leake, Jim Leake, Blair Leake and Emily Leake; great grandchild, Molly Meyer. Memorial service will be 11:00AM Thursday August 4, 2005, at First Presbyterian Church, 1028 S. Beltline, Mesquite, TX. 75149. Followed by a reception. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00PM - 8:00PM. Memorials may be sent to Presbyterian Children's Homes and Services, 4407 Bee Cave Rd., # 520, Austin, TX. 78746-6496.
