Lloyd Alton Dowdey, born on September 20, 1934, in Wisner, Louisiana, journeyed to his eternal rest on January 6, 2025, at the age of 9o.
He proudly served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1962, achieving the rank of Specialist 5. After his service, he became an audiovisual technician working for the Freeman Company, where he played a vital role in setting up concerts and various events.
Lloyd was a devoted father to his daughter, Debra Rhodes, and sons, George Dowdey and Lloyd Dowdey Jr.; a loving grandfather to his grandchildren David Dowdey, Amy Solis, Billy Dowdey, Heather Dowdey, Jennifer Munson, and Kamryn Dowdey; and a proud great-grandfather to Chayce, Kyndal, Ellie, Hayes, Wesley, Kaden, Lainey, Breanna, Remington, Archie, Lauren, Chloe, Jase, Everly, and Jordan. He is remembered by his dear sister, Etoile McCullin, and by Janie Dowdey Fagg, the mother of his children. Lloyd was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dolores Dowdey, and his beloved mother, Ethel Byrnes, and father, James W. Byrnes.
