Linda Lee Jones – “Nana” November 27, 1946 – January 23, 2015 Linda Lee Matthews was born in Dallas, Texas on November 27, 1946.She was the third child of six children born to Homer and Margaret Matthews and grew up in East Dallas.She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, as did her mother and several siblings.While attending college at Dallas Baptist University, she met and married Gene Jones.They were married for 47 years before she passed away quietly at home on January 23, 2015. Linda is survived by her husband, Gene Jones, two daughters, Melissa Small and Jenny Johnson, son-in-laws, Chris Johnson and Kelly Small and five grandchildren, Jeremy and Cameron Small, and Tanner, Brooke and Morgan Johnson.She is also survived by three sisters, Pat Farmer, Sharon Wingard, and Shirley Davila and one brother, Jerry Matthews.In addition to her immediate family, she leaves behind a large extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and –nephews.She was preceded in death by her mother and father, oldest sister Anita Morgan, and nephew, David Matthews. Linda was devoted to her family and made them the highest priority in her life.Through the years, her home was a place of many celebrations, and always a favorite gathering place for her grandchildren.She made Easter Egg hunts an exciting adventure, New Year’s Eve a festive, kid-friendly celebration and decorating Gingerbread houses an annual tradition.Linda especially enjoyed the State Fair of Texas and annual vacations in Galveston, Texas. Linda’s faith in God sustained her through many challenges in her life and served as a strong foundation for her family.She will be remembered for her wise advice, dedication to her family, and her ability to add a special touch to any occasion.She will be greatly missed as she goes to be with her Savior.
