Linda Robertson Anderson Linda Anderson passed away on July 12, 2012 at her home in Poetry, Texas.She had a rare, fast growing form of ovarian cancer, but she didn't suffer long and that was a blessing.At her side were her husband of 42 years, Tom Anderson, and daughter, Cheryl Anderson.Linda had a long life, with many accomplishments, good experiences, happy times, many friends, and no regrets. Linda was born in Odessa, TX on October 30, 1947.Her father, Herman Robertson, was a carpenter and her mother, Blanche Bentley Robertson, was a homemaker.Both are deceased.She is survived by her husband, Tom Anderson of Poetry, TX, a daughter Cheryl Anderson of Los Angeles, CA, Cheryl’s daughter Inanna born in June 2015, two brothers, Cecil Robertson of Odessa, TX and Gary Robertson of Gardendale, TX, and a sister, Carol Robertson Mistry of Bedford, TX. Linda attended schools in Odessa until her father died when she was 15.Shortly after that she moved to Dallas, TX to live with her sister and brother-in-law.She graduated from Bryan Adams High School in Dallas in 1966.She attended Howard Payne University and Texas Tech University, and in 1971 she graduated from Lamar University, in Beaumont, TX with a BA in English and Spanish, plus a teaching certificate in Secondary Education.In 1979 she also received a Masters degree in Business Administration from Lamar University. Linda and Tom met on an blind date in Odessa, TX on July 4, 1969.Tom was working at a summer job with an oil company in Odessa.Linda was attending Texas Tech and had a summer job as a secretary for an oil company.Tom spent the fall of 1969 visiting Linda at Texas Tech, and in the spring of 1970 Linda moved to Houston to be closer to Tom.Linda worked at an insurance company in Houston.Linda and Tom were married May 30, 1970 at the All Faiths Chapel at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX, where Tom was a senior in chemical engineering. Their married life involved moves related to work in the oil industry, including Webster, TX, Port Arthur, TX, Cincinnati, OH, Abqaiq and Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, Beaumont, TX, Sunnyvale, TX and Poetry, TX. Their daughter, Cheryl, was born in 1983 in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, where they lived and worked for Saudi Aramco. Linda taught English and Spanish in public schools in Port Arthur and Cincinnati, and in Dhahran she taught English to Saudi Arab employees of Saudi Aramco.She also worked at times as a stock broker and as a financial analyst.After the birth of Cheryl, Linda remained at home, but beginning in the early 1990’s Linda and Cheryl bought two Arabian horses.For the remainder of her life, along with Cheryl, Linda trained, rode and bred Arabian horses.Over the years Linda and Cheryl won many horse show awards, both at local and national levels.For her last ten years Linda and Tom lived on their horse farm in Poetry, TX, where Linda rode and trained Arabian horses, and managed breeding for their champion Arabian stallion, TAF Adonis Bey+. Linda had many friends, and loved adventure and travel.When Linda and Tom were in Saudi Arabia in the 1970s and 80s, they did scuba diving in the Red Sea and Arabian Gulf, camping in the desert, and visiting ancient ruins.They traveled throughout the Middle and Near East, including Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Cyprus, Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan, India and Nepal.On various trips to Europe they traveled through Italy, Greece, Sicily, France, Spain, England, Scotland, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.In the Americas they traveled through most of the US, plus Canada, Mexico and Peru.Linda was a good skier and they took many ski trips to Colorado and Utah. A memorial service was held at Linda and Tom’s home in Poetry, Texas over Labor Day weekend in 2012.Linda wanted the memorial service to be a happy affair for everyone, with no tears, as she had no regrets about her life.The service had a large attendance by her many friends and family.
