Lillie Rhea Suttle Gibson passed away November 15, 2011 in Mesquite at the age of ninety-seven.She was born October 1, 1914 in Freestone County but moved as an infant to Arbala, near Sulphur Springs.Mrs. Gibson was the second of Jesse and Virgie Suttles seven children. She received her Bachelors degree from East Texas State Teachers College in 1941, and she spent thirty-eight years teaching in Texas public school. Mrs. Gibson retired from Mesquite ISD in 1975 after teaching at Tisinger Elementary for fourteen years. Mrs. Gibson and her husband, Henry C. Gibson, who was reared in Golden, Texas, owned property in Yantis, Texas, where they raised cattle and horses, until 1976 when most of their property was taken for the Lake Fork Reservoir.They moved to Jefferson, Texas where they lived until 1994 when they returned to the Dallas area to be near their family.Mr.Gibson preceded her in death in 1996. Mrs. Gibson is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Marvin Overstreet of Sunnyvale; granddaughter and husband, Carmen and Tim Ayo of Sunnyvale; grandson and wife, Carl and Andrea James of Dallas; great-grandsons, Lawson Ayo and Michael Mack; and several nieces nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents and her six siblings. The funeral will be held in Sunnyvale at New Hope Funeral Home, on Thursday, November 17 with burial in Golden, Texas.
