Leona DeRue Fischer

November 1, 1928 — February 26, 2011

Leona DeRue Fischer passed away February 26, 2011 at the age of 83. She was born to Harvey and Fannie Bullard on January 1, 1928 in Emory, Texas. Graduated from Emory High School in 1944 and married her high school sweetheart, Waymon Charles Fischer in 1946. DeRue and Waymon owned and operated the Douglas and Michael Daycare Center in Dallas and Fischers Fun Farm Summer Day Camp for 25 years. In 1972, the couple opened Fischers Antiques in Sunnyvale, a landmark in the Hwy 80 antiques area for 30 years. DeRue was preceded in death by her husband, Waymon Charles Fischer. She Is survived by brother, Carlton Bullard of Garland, sons Ronnie, Tony and Sam, 3 granddaughters and 2 great-grandsons. Visitation will be held at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale on Monday from 6-8 PM. Services will be held at New Hope on Tuesday at 10AM.
