Leo James Albert of Mesquite Texas died peacefully in his sleep on 2/7/14. He was preceded in death by parents Abraham and Elizabeth "nee Samra"Albert; brothers George and Joseph Albert and sister Dorothy Haynes. Survived by wife of 63 years Patsy Doardt Albert Children: DebrahAlbert (Sheldon Finver)Denise (Tony) Kienzle, Derrick (Vicki) Albert, and Desiree Collard Grandchildren:Kristi (Stony) Johnson, Kirk(Mandy) Kienzle, Shane (Sara)Albert, Andrea (Jesse) Gonzales, Aaron Collard, Kevin (Ashley) AlbertKerri (Paul) Hadfield, Mara and Jared Finver. Great grand children:Thomas, Kyle, Courtney Johnson, Kaitlyn, Maggie Albert, Kameron Kienzle, Gabriella Zuniga and Anna Albert Sister: Rose Marie White 10 nieces and nephews Leo "Jimmy" was born 6/10/23 in Josephine PA was part of the greatest generation serving in the US Army during WW II participating in the D-Day invasion in Normandy and fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. After a time owning a restaurant with his mother and brother in Miami, Fla, he joined the Air Force in 1950. He met his wife in San Antonio while training as a medic and the family they createdlived in Japan, the Philippines, and various bases in the United Statesbefore he retired as a Master Sergeant. Movingto Mesquite in 1969, he worked at Baylor Hospital and then as a letter carrier for the US Post Office. After retiring from the Post office he enjoyed working for the Pony Express and as a card dealer for Casino Parties. A loving husband and father, his great joy was being an active and fun grandpa, until slowed by a stroke in 1998. He remained in his home cared for by his wife till his death. His quiet and gentle strength will be missed by many. Memorials may be made to the WWII Museum or the American Heart Association.
