LaVerne Swint

LaVerne Pilkinton Swint, living most of her life in Sunnyvale, TX, was born in the community of Tripp on August 16, 1936 and passed away in Sunnyvale on March 11, 2018 after a courageous struggle with a lengthy illness.She accepted Jesus as her Savior at an early age and served as church pianist and organist for over 70 years. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 60 years, Joe Swint; parents, Conley W. Pilkinton and Roxie Dunn Pilkinton of Sunnyvale, TX ; sister Joyce Davis and husband Hugh of Pottsboro, TX; and sister Dorothy Lowe Shuff and husbands Charles Lowe and Clifford Shuff of Denison, TX. She is survived by her three children, Dennis Swint and wife Virginia of Mesquite, TX; Diane Tompkins and husband Larry of Sunnyvale, TX; David Swint and wife Kelly of Forney, TX.Her five grandchildren also survive her: Jarrod Swint and wife Jessica; Karen Swint; Casey Swint; Andrew Swint; Austin Swint; and two great-grandchildren Lilith Swint and Greyson Swint.She will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and life-long friends. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, March 14, 2018 from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Her funeral service will be at 12:00 noon on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at New Hope Funeral Home, 500 E. Hwy. 80, Sunnyvale, TX 75182. Interment will follow at Mesquite City Cemetery.
