Obituary for Laura Frances McElroy Laura Frances McElroy, age 81, died on July 13, 2017, at home surrounded by family and loved ones in Seagoville, Texas.Laura was born on October 1, 1935, in Mesquite, Texas to parents Andrew Jackson and Ora Lee Morran.She graduated Valedictorian of Mesquite High School in 1954. Laura is survived by her husband Jerry Dwain McElroy, her son Jerry Lester McElroy and wife Tabitha McElroy, her daughter Melissa McElroy, and her grandchildren Victoria Wilson and her husband Josh,and Ian McElroy.She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Jackson Morran and Ora Lee Beach Morran, her sisters Beatrice Morran Roberts, Clodell Morran Summers, her brothers, Amburse Morran, Troy Morran, Finis Morran, Louis Morran, and Carl Morran, and numerous nieces and nephews. Laura was a great woman of God and has served in ministry for most of her life.She started singing and playing the accordion with her family when she was 5 years old. Laura taught the children, youth and adult choir at the Apostolic Pentecostal Church for many years. She was one of the founding members of the gospel singing group the Inspirited Three, she sang with Merle and the Gospel Four, and many other gospel groups throughout the years.Laura and her husband Jerry started the gospel singing group the Jubil-Heirs in 1988 and they have traveled all over the United States singing and ministering to people.Laura dedicated most of her life and effort to ministering to others through gospel music. Laura and Jerry were married October 21 and have enjoyed over 33 years together.Laura was a very vibrant lady and lived a full and happy life.She was a great example to her children, family, and others.She had many friends that she considered to be family and she always had a hug for everyone.In additions to hugs, Laura was full of encouraging words, had a strong relationship with the Lord and could be counted on for Godly counsel. She has touched thousands of lives through song and prayer and will be missed by many. The visitation and funeral services for Laura will be held at the First Assembly of God of Mesquite, Texas on Monday, July 17, 2017.The church is located at 422 S. Ebrite Street, Mesquite, Texas.The visitation hours are from 10-12 with the funeral beginning at 12 noon.
