Laura's showdown with cancer was fought with all the bravery and ferocity of a warrior. She lived her last years as a time of renaissance, knocking things off her bucket list, spending time with family and friends, riding her beloved horse Chief with her fellow trail riders, as well as finding new passions and rediscovering old ones.
Laura particularly enjoyed her role as a grandmother, showering her grandchildren with silly adventures and unconditional love. Whether it was fishing, a birthday, holidays, or even a trip to raid a dollar store, she knew how to make it hilariously fun.
Though she is no longer in this world with us, we'd like to think she's on some celestial plane, cooking enormous pots of her famous chili, making her award winning jelly, finding new friends, and riding free.
Laura is survived by her husband, Brian Butler; daughters, Courtney Lewis, Ashley Vidrine; son, Scotty Vidrine; son in law, Walter Lewis; grandsons, Buddy Lewis, Franklyn Lewis, Brody Lewis, Dylan Lewis, and Hunter Vidrine; granddaughters, Madison Williams, Lilly Lewis, Victoria Vidrine; sister, Sara Wheeler; niece, Jessica Hallmark; and numerous friends.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, William and Cheryl Wheeler.
Details regarding Laura's Last Ride Memorial will be released at a later time.
