Larry James Dawson

Larry James Dawson of Mesquite, born November 9, 1948, went home to be with the Lord March 1, 2015 from a long, courageous battle with heart disease. He is preceded in death by his Father Onous Oscar Dawson and Mother Della Mae Ezell; Brother Edmond Dawson; Sisters Jo Ann Loftis, Edna Mae Hoyt, and Helen Johnson. Larry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Vicki Jewell Young Dawson; Daughters Julie Martin and Shelley Knight, Amanda and Marquis Nickson; Grandchildren Alix Martin and John Chambers, Cameron Busby, Joseph Knight, Andrew Nickson, Micah Nickson; Great Grandchild Jaylyn Chambers; Sisters-in-law Jane and Bob Stone, Dot Young; Brothers-in-law Jack and Clintsy Young, Hank and Cynthia Young; and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry worked 36 wonderful years for Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) from which he retired. When not working hard to provide for his family, he loved to be on the water in his boat and was an avid fisher and hunter.But mostly after retirement, he treasured traveling the country by car, sitting side by side with his wife.When he wasn’t on the road he spent endless amounts of time shooting the bull at Denny’s with his coffee buddies.
