Shri. Kodiyattu Varghese Philip Kodiyattu Varghese Philip was born on March 2nd, 1940, in Ranni, Kerala as the fourth child to late Mr. Thomas Varghese and late Mrs. Annamma Varghese. After graduating from Ebenezer High School in Ettichevudu, Ranni he proceeded to Kumbanad from where he obtained Registered Medical Practioner (RMP) license. He moved to Ayyampalayam in Dindigul (Dist), Tamil Nadu in 1965 and practiced medicine where he is fondly remembered as ?Dr. Philip.' This became his life for the next four decades, serving the many hundreds in that town. He married Mary Chacko, daughter of late C. K. Chacko and late Kunjamma Chacko of the Vadasseril Ettuparayil family from Karipuzha in Alleppey (Dist) on the 15th June 1967. In their family life God blessed them with four daughters and a son. He first came to the United States in the year 1999 to visit his eldest daughter and family and thereafter has been visiting them as an immigrant for the last eight years. It was here that he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and on 16th of July 2000 witnessed Him in water baptism and thus in his own words he became a child of God striving to be a ?dear child of God.' He became part of Metro Church of God family and ever since has been a faithful member till he breathed his last on Sunday the 30th, December 2007. Since 23rd Oct, 2007 he underwent treatment at Parkland Hospital for some minor physical complications and in the course of the last two months suffered two minor heart attacks. On 29th December 2007 he complained of shortness of breath and was immediately taken to the hospital where assumedly he suffered another attack and was on life support. The doctors tried their best to keep him alive but the Lord who controls all of our lives and destiny had planned something else for him. Thus at about 11:20 am on the Lord's Day amidst songs of hope and prayer surrounded by his wife, children, family, believers and pastors he breathed his last and entered his eternal dwelling place. Mr. Philip leaves behind fond memories of a person who loved life and always had a big smile on his face. Those who have known him closely would truly say that he was of a humble and kind spirit. He is survived by his dear wife, four daughters, their husbands, his son and daughter-in law and ten grandchildren. We will dearly miss our dear daddy and even though we are saddened by his sudden demise, we rejoice that he finished his work here on earth as a son, husband, father, grandfather and most importantly as a child of God and went to be with his beloved Lord.
