HOLMAN, Kiefer Cody of Mesquite, born July 22, 1992 passed away March 12, 2011. Kiefer Cody Holman was born on July 22, 1992 to Robert and Terry Holman and big brother Tanner. He grew up in Mesquite, Texas and graduated from Poteet High School in 2010. His childhood was graced by two best friends since he was born, Alex and Allyson Fitzgerald, along with their loving family. He continued to grow up and make friends with most anyone that was blessed to meet him. Brandon Rodriguez, Preston Claypoole, Joan Martinez, and Ashton Parks were some, among many, of the closest friends Kiefer gained. Hes been playing soccer since he was 5 years old with the Cyclones, TNT, and Impact. He played soccer at Poteet High School and received many honors including Varsity Letterman, District 23-4A 1st Team All District, TASCO 2nd Team All Region, TASCO Academic All State, and Team Defensive MVP. He loved all his teammates including Chris Dalrymple, Reese Lawson, Traci Cooper and especially Coach Casey Osborn. He also was known for his humor and everyone at Poteet looked forward to his Joke of the Day during the announcements. Kiefer could make anyone laugh on a whim. However, he found his true passion when he began to attend the youth ministry at Mimosa Lane Baptist Church. Kiefer was led there by his best friends, Blair Benefield, Caitlin Collins, Jenna Nigh and Gabby Palmeri among others. Kiefer went on many mission trips, but specifically on one trip, he called his grandmother, Rosemary Tittle, to let her know he had just saved a little boy and brought him to Christ. Kiefer began his college life at Hardin-Simmons in August 2010. After an initial tour of the campus, he truly felt the love of Christ around him. He majored in Religious Studies and at the beginning of his second semester, was assigned to preach at the Second Baptist Church of Abilene. The warm welcome at the church was incredible. Kiefers message was Do You Really Know LOVE! A note from his journal to God states: God, I did a sermon this morning at Second Baptist Church of Abilene. I preached about Your Great Love. I said that we need to first, give the Love back to you, and second, we need to give the Love to others. I pray that I wont be a hypocrite. I pray that I can do these things. I pray that I will share your Love, Gospel, Your Word unashamedly. I truly want to do this. I want people to know You. But most of all, I want to know You. I LOVE YOU. Kiefers prayers have been answered tenfold. His short life has touched so many people that Kiefer will be amazed when God says to him: Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful witha few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness Matthew 25:23.
