Kerri DeJong

Kerri Lynn DeJong passed away on January 25, 2024 after a brave journey with cancer. She showed remarkable strength and courage after receiving the diagnosis 1 1/2 years ago.

Kerri was born on December 14, 1983 in Mitchell, South Dakota to her parents, Don and Cheryl DeJong. Kerri was the youngest of three sisters, Kelly and Emily.

In 1985, Kerri and her family moved to Forney, Texas where she attended school from kindergarten through the twelfth grade. While in school, Kerri participated in cheerleading, volleyball, and basketball. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Forney.

After graduating from high school, Kerri received her LPN certification from Oklahoma City University. Kerri worked as a home health nurse in the Oklahoma area.

Kerri adored her nieces and nephews and always looked forward to their visits. She also loved her three dogs, Maverick, Macy, and Dawg. Kerri was an avid Texas Rangers fan and an online shopping pro.

She is survived by parents, Donald and Cheryl DeJong, sisters, Kelly Deckard (Jeremy) and Emily Pyle (Phillip), nieces, Hailey DeJong, Emma Deckard, and Ella Pyle, nephews, Colton Deckard and Jackson Pyle, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

Kerri's celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at the First Presbyterian Church of Forney, Texas. Visitation will be at 10:00 am. Service will be at 11:00 am.
