Kenneth Ray Elery

Kenneth Ray Elery, born on July 27, 1937 in Hartman, Arkansas. Ken was born in Arkansas and moved to Texas to raise a family and obtain a better life fr his family. He was in the Army Reserves for the US Government and joined the Dallas Police Department in 1965. He quickly advanced to the rank of Lieutenant and regarded his career highly. He was a Master Mason for many years. His hobbies in life were fishing...he loved to catch big catfish, amateur radio, square dancing....inwhich he meet a lot of close friends, and family events. Ken was diagnosed with Parkinsons disease which he battled with for 15 years. He was a great father, husband and friend to many. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, George W. and Goldie Griffith Elery. He is survived by wife, Wanda Elery - of the house; brother:,Odell Elery and wife Kay " of Bella Vista, AR ; sisters: Louise Mills " of Elkins, AR , Lucille Thomas and husband Jim " of Elkins, AR; sons: Dewayne Elery and wife Brenda " of Forney, TX Phil Elery and wife Peggy " of Forney, TX; step Daughter: Kristy Conner and husband Daryl " of Ft. Worth, TX ; step Son: Charlie Fields and wife Nancy " of Forney, TX ; grandchildren: Mitch Elery and wife Emily " of Yorktown, VA, Toby Elery"of Forney,TX, Amanda Elery " of Forney, TX, Scott Elery " of Forney, TX , Mark Elery " of Forney, TX , Crista Fields " of Forney, TX , Cameron Fields " of Forney, TX. Service will be 10:00AM Wednesday Augsut 3, 2011 at New Hope Funeral Home, 500 E. Hwy. 80, Sunnyvale, TX. 75182. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00PM - 8:00PM.
