She is preceded in death by her daughter Shannon Bryan, her mother Elizabeth Chapman, her sisters Bettye Gene Dismore and Shelley Cantu, and many other extended family. She is survived by her daughter Amy Goldsmith, her grandchildren Austin Alice Russell, Jonathan Russell, Ashley Russell, and Joshua Goldsmith, her sister Dorinda Clites, brother Jim Bryan, her father Doyle Chapman, stepmom Joannie Varner. And many other family and friends. Kathy was a strong independent woman. She left behind her values of love and loyalty to family, and the value of working hard for what you earn in life. Undoubtededly her grandchildren learned from her values and will carry those in their hearts for future generations. She took great pride in her grandchildren, whom she helped raise, and was especially proud of their academic achievments. Kathy grew up in Mesquite, TX, where she attended Mesquite HS, and North Mesquite HS. She took a job at Margo's working with her mother. She also worked at Texas Instruments, and various other jobs. She worked many years as inventory manager at Levine's Department Stores working for her brother-in-law Donald Dismore and sister Bettye. She was especially devoted and loyal to what she considered a family centered business, until her medical leave in 2013. When she was younger her hobbies included reading, sketching, floral arrangement, fishing, practicing piano, and home improvement projects. Kathy was very artistic and worked with her husband Michael creating many prize winning chocolate sculptures. Although we will miss Kathy dearly, we rejoice that she is in heaven. We will cherish our memories, pass down the values she taught us, and share the love that she gave us. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in her honor to St Judes Children's Hospital or the American Leukemia Society. Kathy will be raid to rest at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Sunnyvale, TX with services pending.
