Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, her family moved to California in the early sixties. She lived in Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach until her move to Texas in the early 80’s. During her time in Cali, her constant companion was her best friend Tess. They loved each other dearly, and had too many adventures to list. But oversleeping and missing the oceanography exam stands out. She was mom to her 7 kids and dozens of others that called her mom.Her sweet nature made everyone who came through her door feel loved. Her children are her legacy. Kathy was an amazing artist. She graduated with a degree in commercial art. But her passion was painting. She created many one-of-a-kind paintings. Her creations are on display all over the Petty home. Family was very important to Kathy. She loved her parents, brothers and sisters dearly, and always tried to spend time with them. From camping trips with Frank, Jane, Marie, Matt and Tony, to trips to Michigan, Kentucky and Washington, she tried to spend time with all of her siblings. They remained dear to her until her final day. Kathy married Mickey Petty in 1982, and had 7 children with the love of her life.Their love and public affection was the talk of many both inside the family, and those who called them friends. Most pictures of Mick and Kathy showed a loving gaze.Through thick and thin they weathered every storm together, and showed the sceptics that God had indeed brought them together. Kathy was also a committed follower of Jesus. She would share Christ with anyone who would listen. After her conversion, she attended Agape Force Bible Training school in Texas. She was faithful in church after her conversion, and sought to bring others to the grace that had set her free. She affected too many lives to list, and showed those in her world the grace of God in action.
