Julia “Judy” Medina Lofton was born in Forney, Texas on May 28, 1939 by a midwife at home. Her family goes back many generations in Texas with most settling around the Dallas area. She grew up in Forney and was a Majorette for the Forney Jackrabbits in high school. She went on to work for the City of Dallas at City Hall; she was actually in City Hall and watched the Kennedy motorcade drive by in 1963. She met the love of her life, Larry Lofton, at a USO in Dallas in 1965 and their romance began. They married on June 4, 1967 at Fort Carson Military Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado and began a life together with Larry in the Army. She continued to work at City Hall in Dallas, Texas for a number of years on and off during military moves. They lived in Mississippi, Hawaii, North Carolina, Texas, Germany and Colorado along with their daughter, Angela, born in 1972.In 1984 Larry retired from the Army and they moved back home to Mesquite, Texas where both had family located. Through the years Judy worked for the Federal Government overseas as the Student Academic Records Secretary, Communications-Electronics Department, 7th Army Combined Arms Training Center in Bad Toelz, Germany. She went back to work for the Federal Government in Dallas, Texas and she retired from the United States Department of Labor, Mine Safety and Health Administration in July of 2001 after 17 years. She was always loved and admired by all her co-workers. She was always a hard worker and excelled at everything she did in her professional life as well as her personal life. Judy enjoyed retirement with her husband Larry and they travelled often. They enjoyed living a great life together and spent as much time as distance allowed with their daughter, Angela, and son in law, Mark. Judy lost Larry, her husband of 45 years, on December 9, 2012 and it was a heavy loss. Judy enjoyed spending time with family, watching television, going shopping in her favorite stores (Big Lots, Aldi and Dollar stores) and taking short trips. Angela and Mark would take her on fun little gambling excursions when they’d come to visit and she always had a great time full of laughter. Larry and Judy always enjoyed going to Las Vegas, Reno and Shreveport throughout their lives and Angela and Mark tried to keep up some of those fun times with Judy. Although it was never the same without Larry, it somehow made everyone feel a little closer to him. Judy is predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Larry E. Lofton, her Father and Mother, Ysabel & Eucaria Medina, her brothers, Ysavel (Frank) Medina and Jim Medina, her sister, Josephine Hernandez and many aunts & uncles and grandparents. Judy is survived by her daughter, Angela Jean Medina Lofton Jordan, and her son in law, Mark E. Jordan, of Sparks, Nevada along with many nieces and nephews mainly throughout Texas. Judy wanted to be cremated just as Larry was. Her daughter, Angela, and son in law, Mark, plan on travelling to spread both of their ashes in places that were special to them. We have chosen not to have a service as this is something Judy would not have wanted. As anyone that really knew her, she was always a private person and the Lofton’s were always somewhat of loners in life together. There’s peace in knowing that Judy is back with Larry as they belong and that is what is most important. She will always be loved and missed by her daughter and son in law. There are also many nieces and nephews that love and miss her too. There’s a place in our hearts that will never be the same. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. Your Mother is always with you. She’s the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street; she’s the smell of certain foods you remember, flowers you pick, the fragrance of life itself. She’s the cool hand on your brow when you’re not feeling well; she’s your breath in the air on a cold winter’s day. She is the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep, the colors of a rainbow, she is Christmas morning. Your mother lives inside your laughter. She’s the place you come from, your first home, and she’s the map you follow with every step you take. She’s your first love, your first friend, and even your first enemy, but nothing on earth can separate you. Not time, not space…….not even death!~Unknown
