Joyce Mitchell Rodgers went home to be with Jesus on March 14, 2024 at the age of 85. She was born on July 24, 1938, in Dallas, Texas to Elvin Dewitt Mitchell and Alice Allbritton Mitchell. She married the love of her life, Jim Rodgers on July 9, 1955.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin and Alice Mitchell, and her husband of 52 years, Jim Rodgers; sisters, Velma Pearl Hathcox, Margaret Carter, and Ruby Starcher; and her brothers David Mitchell, Donald Mitchell, and Paul Ray Mitchell.
Joyce is survived by her brothers, Billy J Mitchell, and Richard Mitchell; as well as her sisters Fay Collins, Mary Andrews, and Sarah Covert.
She is also survived by her daughters, Rebecca (Becky) Rodgers Elze and her husband John, and Saundra (Sandy) Rodgers Jennings; grandchildren, Aaron Tunnell and wife Trina, Amanda Duncan and husband Ryan Duncan, Valerie Ragsdale and husband Jonathan, Julie Penisten and husband JR, Jim Mullins and wife Kristi, Amy Jennings and husband Aaron, Jessica Jennings, Molly Jennings, and Justin Elze and wife Erin; great-grandchildren, Abbey Gilliam and husband Zach, Zoe Tunnell, Natalie Tunnell, Kayli Gossett, Hannah Manning, Emmah Manning, Caleb Manning, Jasca Tunnell, Lucas Duncan, Nathan Penisten, Bella Duncan, Adam Ross, Julian Ragsdale, Eric Mullins, Tony Mullins, and Rusti Ross.
Family was the most important thing to Joyce, who was lovingly called "Memaw" by most people. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the greatest joys in her life.
