Joyce Gail Dhanday of Forney, Texas, born March 2nd, 1939, peacefully joined her loved ones in heaven, holding her daughters hand on April 24, 2019. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd (Bo) Carroll Thornton; parents Robert Norman and Jessie Joyce Bopp; sister Karen; brother Robert and her son Richard Ray Smeltzer. She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Gail Smeltzer Irwin; grandchildren, Raymie Earl Williams, Jr., Brandon Lee Williams; great grandchildren, Kamyla Pulido, Enrique Pulido, Hayden Williams, Diego Pulido, Larenzo Pulido and Christian Williams, sister in law Sharon Thornton, nephew Ron Thornton, niece Barbara Thornton, friend Betty Marshall , very best friend Cathy Martin and Smokey, her cat. Joyce grew up in Dallas Texas and was a fun loving, full of zest woman. Joyce was an electronic assembler and also worked as an activity director in a nursing home. Joyce was very creative. She loved to make things, often to give her friends and family, and if you were looking for her on the weekends, she could be found at the neighborhood garage sales. Joyce loved country music, especially Alan Jackson, and had a great since of humor. Juicy Joyce, as loving nicknamed by her brother in law Donald, stuck with her all her life. “Well I’ll Say”, was one of her favorite lines, and her laugh was contagious. Joyce loved her family, and her loving daughter, Cindy, held a very special place in her heart. She was always there to care for and lend a helping hand. She took care of her mother in law, Doodles and sister in law Patsy in their time of need. A lover of cats, Joyce treated her beloved Smokey as if he were her child, calling him her baby boy. Joyce will be forever missed! There will never be another like her!
